This book was on the Glenn Beck program last night, part of his Founding Friday’s shows. David Barton was the guest. This was the second show featuring the history of our Black Founding Fathers. Who had any idea that there was a book, 396 pages total, that told the amazing stories of these individuals? And why has it been swept under the rug? It’s truly sickening to witness. The book is from 1855. It is now out of print, but can be found online. I urge everyone to take some time and go through it. We need to make sure this history is not lost.

My hometown of State Center has a yearly celebration called the Rose Festival. Check it out – statecenterrosefestival.com Anyhow, originally I was going to miss out this year. But my Great Uncle passed away late last week and the funeral was held yesterday. So my wife and I decided to make the short trip home for his celebration of life and an extended stay for the Rose Festival weekend. Also when I return I’ll have company in town for the College World Series in Omaha. Likely I won’t be posting much here over the next week. However, I’ll post a few updates on Facebook and Twitter as usual.

A note about my Great Uncle. He was the hardest working and toughest man I ever knew. He leaves behind a great legacy with his example of work ethic and strong faith.

I’m looking forward to time spent with family and friends! It’s nice to also be home to celebrate Father’s Day with my dad. A little vacation is always nice. I hope all my readers and fans enjoy the Father’s Day weekend. Thanks!

For those who defend traditional marriage it’s often a no-win conversation. The militant proponents of gay marriage are quick to demonize those defending traditional marriage by referring to them as bigots and other ugly names. You probably know that Rush Limbaugh got married last weekend. Many people were surprised that Elton John performed at the wedding for the new couple and guests. Some were shocked by this because of Elton John being a gay man and Rush Limbaugh being on the opposite political spectrum. Now in general I think Rush lands on the side of traditional marriage. But as an avid listener of his show I don’t think I’ve ever heard him get in depth on the topic, or even spend a large amount of time on the debate.

 

Which brings us to perception from the other side of the aisle. This is Joy Behar of The View discussing the event. She was outraged that Elton choose to perform at the wedding. It makes me wonder who the real bigot is? Rush Limbaugh or Joy Behar? Joy seems to believe that this an issue with no middle ground, and no room for anyone to dissent from her view. In fact she even tries to compare it to someone performing for the KKK or in South Africa during the apartheid. As heated at this topic is I think such comparisons are ridiculous and really an outrage.

Maybe Joy Behar is the one who needs to learn a little bit about tolerance. She could take a lesson from Rush and Elton on the matter.
