For my Christmas Series of shows this year I have decided to spend time focusing on the Charles Dickens classic Christmas tale “A Christmas Carol”.

Many are unaware of just religious Dickens was, and especially how much Christian symbolism is found throughout “Carol”. It’s a very Christian themed work. It’s of course a literary masterpiece…and one that I love to bring out every Christmas season.

So join me this season as we explore the deeper meanings inside A Christmas Carol. The new Christmas shows start soon! A full schedule will be up sometime tomorrow.

If you would like to follow along with my show exploration of “Carol”, you can purchase the same book that I will be using by Stephen Skelton.

Sirius-XM provides one of my favorite sources for Christmas music every year. They kick it off tonight (Monday morning) at 3 AM Eastern with Holiday Traditions and Holly. Traditions airs on channel 147. Holly is on channel 17.

Holly was a long time favorite of mine until a few years ago. It’s still enjoyable, but they have really added way too much modern pop and hip hop music to their playlist. Hopefully this year they go back to a more contemporary style.

Holiday Traditions is still my favorite. Expect Bing Crosby, Ray Coniff Singers, Frank Sinatra, and just about all those classic Christmas songs you remember.

The rest of the Sirius-XM lineup will launch on December 2nd with Navidad (Latin influenced Christmas), Holiday Pops (Classical), and Country Christmas. For the our Jewish friends Radio Hanukkah starts in late December.

And if you don’t have Sirius-XM and don’t like the local adult contemporary station, check out this online collection of various Christmas stations!

Thank you Accuradio! There’s something there for everyone!

in case you missed it this morning I launched my Morning Prayer Show – an extension of the Badger Benson Show. You can find it at the same location as the regular program on BlogTalkRadio.com. The show page again is, http://www.blogtalkradio.com/badger-benson

Join me each morning at 6:30 AM Central for Morning Prayer. The shows will air every Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend episodes as well. Morning Prayer is exactly what it sounds like – 15-30 minutes of morning devotionals, Bible readings and prayers to start the day.

For a long time I’ve wanted to do something more faith based with the program. I felt that the timing was now right. Due to job changes I won’t be commenting on Nebraska politics as much. Plus I thought this would be a good way to keep myself accountable in my personal life in doing a morning Bible reading. I also wanted to start it at this time of the year, right before the holidays to enhance the meaning for my family. The inspiration for the program came from Glenn Beck. Not many know it, but Glenn hosted a Morning Prayer program on BlogTalkRadio.com during the 10 days leading up to the 8/28/10 Restoring Honor Rally. I loved what he did on that. I was disappointed that he didn’t keep it going. So I thought, why not do it myself?

The source material I’ll be using is the Portals of Prayer booklet by Concordia Publishing that is used by Missouri Synod Lutherans, but is quite applicable to Christianity in general. My intent is to approach it that way. I’m simply using that devotional book because it’s what I use daily anyway. Also the Bible readings will be from the American Patriot’s Bible which is a New King James Version with tid-bits about American history influenced by faith. I hope you’ll join me each morning for devotions and prayer!.

It’s been a few months since I’ve done anything with the web site or hosted a show. That was on purpose, but I do apologize for not giving any specifics about it all until now.

Back in October I finished up my degree at Bellevue University in the Leadership program. I decided to take the remaining weeks of my classes to concentrate full efforts on finishing strong. I successfully completed my degree!

Around the same time I took a new job working in the Nebraska legislature as an administrative aide. As I got started I didn’t want to make too much public until I felt comfortable with everything. I likely will not make much commentary on the site or show about Nebraska politics as it pertains to what is happening in the Unicameral.

However, I will continue to do the show and focus on subjects related to humanities, leadership, and national news. I’m also looking forward to the coming year of continuing to assist our grass roots groups in Nebraska. I’m looking forward to learning now working inside the capitol. I appreciate all of the well wishes over the past few months as I moved into a new phase of my life.

Also I have started a side project called Louisville Nebraska Radio, which also airs on BlogTalkRadio.com  http://www.blogtalkradio.com/louisvillenebraska The project started as I finished at Bellevue with my civic project in the Kirkpatrick Signature Series. The concept was to take the show I was presently doing and turn into a format for rural communities to utilize as part of their own community to cover area news and events, and promote themselves. Part of the inspiration for this came from seeing the launch of Glenn Beck’s GBTV. I hope that what I am doing might serve as model for other communities on how to utilize social media.

As for the Badger Benson Show there is plenty coming up! I will be launching a morning prayer/faith based show, heard daily in the morning at the same location http://www.blogtalkradio.com/badger-benson Look for that to start tomorrow or early next week!

Also much like last year there will be a holiday series of shows including a series for Thanksgiving and another Christmas Countdown series. Those will start next week. Also coming in January – the 2011 AmeriCANS and AmeriCANTS of the Year!

Stay tuned folks! The Badger Den is alive. When you’re inside the den…you’re outside the box!.

Yesterday as you know was Veteran’s Day. To mark the day I decided to re-air my interview with my Great Uncle Bill Baltisberger. Uncle Bill served during WWII as a navigator on bombers. He was part of many missions in the European theater. The interview includes several humorous stories, his thoughts on modern events, his missions, and his dramatic escape from Germany after his plane went down.

Thank you to my Great Uncle Bill and all the Veterans out there!
